Ruston, LA ? Graveside services for John Smalley will be 12:00 PM, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Arlington Memorial Cemetery, El Dorado, AR. Officiating will be CH (CPT) Scott Thompson, of the 527 EN BN. John was born February 16, 1990 in El Dorado, AR and passed away January 29, 2011. After graduation from high school he joined the Louisiana National Guard and was assigned to the 527th Engineer Battalion where he proudly served the citizens of his community and the state of Louisiana. His family, friends, and fellow soldiers will always remember him as a young man that loved his family, his friends and the out doors. Preceding him in death is his father, Bobby Smalley and sister, Denise Faulkner. He leaves behind his mother, Lisa Smalley and her fiancé Jeff Russell; fiancée, Ashley Wright; grandfather, Art Watts; grandmother, Ann Forgey; grandfather, Richard Forgey; half-sister, Angie Creech and family; uncles, Ken and Matthew Watts; aunts, Marie and Michelle Watts; niece, Tina Gayle Owens and family; great-aunts, Liz Milleson and Martha Woolley; Wayne Green; and a family of friends from North Louisiana and Arkansas. A memorial service in the Ruston area will be held at a later date.
