Shreveport, LA - Graveside services for Don Raymond Agnor will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Forest Park Cemetery West. Officiating will be Dr. Chad Hardbarger of Emmanuel Baptist. Gathering for friends and family will proceed service at Emmanuel Baptist Church Family Life Center.
The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, LA 71109.
Don, 75, was born November 16, 1938 in Marshall, Texas to Betty Jane and Harry Agnor. Don fought several cancers for the past three years, but lost the battle peacefully on April 11, 2014 surrounded by family.
In his younger years, Don graduated from Marshall High School and attended International Correspondence Schools studying electrical instrumentation. He began working for Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) November 2, 1959 and retired 41 years later as a Substation Electrician.
In Don's younger years he enjoyed the outdoors, duck hunting, deer hunting, and fishing. Don was an avid fan of Louisiana Downs horse racing, as well as keeping his mind fresh by working puzzles, Sudoku, and other mind games. Most of all, he loved watching his girls grow up.
Preceding Don in death is his parents, Betty Jane Heartsill Agnor and Harry Ferrell Agnor, Jr.; brother, William (Bubba) Agnor; and nephew, Chad Agnor. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Wanda Jo Williams Agnor; children, Donna Jo Agnor Stanley of Shreveport and Robert (Bobby) Ferrell Agnor of Shreveport; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Brook Stanley Miller and husband Tony Vincent Miller, Sara Katherine Stanley, Kaytlyn Michelle Agnor, and Bobi Elise Agnor; and great granddaughter, Abigail Grace Miller.
Serving as pallbearers will be Benny James, Chester Remedies, Omer Nettles, Buddy Smith, Ron "Red" Thomas, and Tony Miller. Honorary pallbearers Sonny Emmons, Roger Lewis and Tony Bamburg.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Willis Knighton Cancer Center, Dr. Maxwell McDonald and Nurse Pam Nail of Willis Knighton Hospice of Louisiana.
