Lainie C Dominguez

d. March 3, 2017

On August 31,1970 eight airmen in Keflavik, Iceland worked all night to improvise an incubator aboard a P-3C Orion, an anti-submarine surveillance aircraft, to fly a 10 week premature baby weighing only 3 pounds 2 ounces to Wiesbaden, Germany. That tiny baby, Lainie Christine Dominguez, spent the next two months in a Wiesbaden hospital until she was healthy enough to return to Iceland with her parents, Jesse Dominguez and Judy Dodd. While life began in the far north, it was the soft warm Southern breezes that fostered Lainie's love of Texas and Louisiana. Her family moved to Haughton with Jesse's final deployment and eventual retirement from the U. S. Air Force at Barksdale. This became Lainie's home base. After graduating from Airline High School in 1988 she moved to Dallas and graduated from The Art Institute, with emphasis in fashion merchandising. It was a great career choice that utilized her creative talents. Her eye for fun extended to her Dallas apartment and the imaginative black and red color scheme. Lainie was a lover of all animals, especially English Bulldogs and Boston Terriers. Maggie, a stray Boston Terrier, found a home 5 years ago in Lainie's heart and home. Lainie had a plaque in her house asking the question "Who rescued who?". The answer was obvious. They needed each other. Maggie was a constant companion giving unconditional love that supported Lainie through some very difficult times. Although she often said that she could fit her entire family in one car, you would need a bus to fit her network of friends. Friends from high school, The Art Institute, work, Facebook, neighbors and her healthcare providers are among those that she supported and who supported her. So many were at her side giving encouragement and prayers. While her life was compromised by diabetes and kidney failure, it did not define her. Lainie's undaunted spirit looked forward to a kidney transplant and a new lease on life. Sadly, that day never came. Please hold in your heart memories of a special friend, her smiling face and those twinkling eyes that went with her giggling laugh. Lainie was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by an uncle Jim, aunts Penny and Lonna, cousins Sheri, Jim and Thad. Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic Church, 522 East Flournoy Lucas Rd., Shreveport, LA on March 18th at 1:30 p.m. In memory of Lainie become an organ donor, chill out with Adam Levine, adopt a shelter animal or contribute to a diabetes or kidney disease charity.
