Fernando Banda Ortega

Visitation for Fernando "Fred" Ortega will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 9:00am with a Memorial Service to follow at 10:30 am at Boone Funeral Home Chapel, 2156 Airline Drive Bossier City LA. He passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013 after a sudden illness. Fred was born on March 3, 1940 to Lorenza and Rumalda Banda Ortega. A native of Corpus Christi TX he was stationed at Barksdale AFB and remained in Haughton LA until his death. At the time of his retirement he held the rank of Staff Sgt and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He also was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5951, the Air Force Sergeants Association, the American Legion Post and the 40 & 8. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 siblings- Teresa Sul, Margarito, Felipe and Jose Ortega. And his fur baby, Spunky who he loved more than any of us! Also the Mother of his children, Susan Annette Ortega. He is survived by his loving companion of 38 years, Agnes Chamberlain. Son-Michael and wife, Jacquelyn of Edmond Ok, son, Chris and son, Jesse and wife, Melissa all of Corpus Christi, Tx . 7 Grandkids and 8 Great- Grandkids. His sister, who he loved dearly, Antonia Solis of Aurora, CO. Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Fred was a loving Father, Pops and Grand Pops. He had his opinions and was willing to voice them, whether you were ready to hear them or not. His dedication to his country was only surpassed by his dedication to the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his "Boys"! Some of us in the family never held that against him... We love you Fred and you will be greatly missed!!
