Jeanette Bassett Messina

Shreveport, LA - Memorial services for Jeanette will be 11:00 AM, October 31, 2015 at Cypress Baptist Church in Benton, LA. Officiating will be Rev. John Bodine of Cypress Baptist Church will officiate. Jeanette Messina went to meet her Savior on October 28, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Jeanette has worked 18 years at Overton Brooks Medical Center as a RN. She knew from a very early age that she wanted to help people through nursing. During her career she worked with and helped many brave Veterans. When not at work, she loved showing, breeding and raising Chinese Shar-Pei. Most of all she loved her family. Jeanette was the daughter of the late William T. Bassett and Ada Wise Bassett of Vicksburg, MS. After working as a LPN, she met and married the love of her life, Jerry. After raising their family in MS, Jeanette and Jerry settled in Shreveport. Proceeding Jeanette in death are her parents, Ada Belle Wise and William T. Bassett; brother, Harold Bassett; sister, Laura Buttman, and aunt, Henrietta "Jo" Keithley. She is survived by husband of 37 years, Jerry Messina; son, William T. Messina, Sr. (Ericka); daughter, Ashley Wall (Chris); grandchildren, William T. Messina, Jr, Easton T. Messina, Brooklynn Belle Messina, William "Mason" Messina, and Liam Wall; sister, Mary Ruth Bassett; niece, Karen Daniel; cousin, Alex Keithley. Jeanette left her family early but they will hold forever her memory and her love. She was always proud of being able to help many people in her life. She will be greatly missed by everyone that had the honor and privilege of knowing her.
