Ruth Pittman White Petty, 70, of Shreveport, Louisiana, gained her heavenly wings on August 10, 2021 after an extended illness. Ruth was born on February 20, 1951 to Dr. Sidney and Mrs. Nancy Pittman in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She spent most of her life in Minden, Louisiana raising her children and devoting her time and talents to local organizations.
Ruth was a larger-than-life personality who had impeccable taste and a love for salty beach air, sunflowers and sunshine. Ruth was fiercely devoted to her family and to her friends that became family. Ruth was our matriarch, and she led by an example of strength, grace, and devotion to her faith.
Ruth was truly a giving soul and she was very talented at decorating and organizing fabulous parties and holiday events for friends and family. Her special “Ruth touch” will be sorely missed, but the impact she had on those she loved will be felt forever.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Stanley Petty, Sr., and five children: Kent White (Flor), Wende Brewer (JD), Spencer White (Whitney), Jay White (Melissa), & Jacqueline Bozick (Lucas) and Chassey Petty, daughter in law. Four siblings: Thomas Pittman (Kim), Bill Pittman, Sandra “Sam” Beech (Greg), and Zoe Pierce (Rick).
