Obituary of Robert Lee Gillespie, Jr.
Robert Lee Gillespie, Jr. passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021 with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life service for Bob will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home. Bob was born in Haynesville, Louisiana to Robert Lee Gillespie, Sr. and Marie Gillespie-Bonnette, the first of two siblings. He graduated from Minden High School and attended vocational school. For most of his career, he was successful in parts sales. He was an intelligent individual that was able to carry on a conversation with someone about anything. Known for having a loving spirit and hugs that drew you to him. His quick wit kept everyone around laughing as you never knew what would come out of his mouth next. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, baseball, cars, guns, and outdoor grilling. Preceded in death by father, Robert Lee Gillespie, Sr; maternal and paternal grandparents. Left to cherish memories are daughter, Millen Manuel and husband Domingo; grandsons, Anthony Tyler and future granddaughter Katelyn and Jayden Robert Gillespie; mother, Marie Gillespie-Bonnette; brother, Jay Gillespie; sister, Ellen Leone; many nieces and nephews; bonus daughter, Marion Joy Beers; special fur baby, Paisley Renee; and many other family members and friends. Bob was a devoted father, loving Papa, wonderful son, and great big brother. He cherished his nieces and nephews. Many had the privilege of knowing Bob and he will never be forgotten. 2nd Obituary Robert Lee (Bob) Gillespie, Jr., age 63, of Haughton, LA passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2021 after a long and courageous fight with cancer. Bob was born on August 12, 1957 in Haynesville, LA to Marie Berry and Robert Lee Gillespie, Sr. Funeral services for Bob will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home on Airline Drive in Bossier City, LA at 2:00 PM. Bob worked as a heavy-duty parts man at Waukesha Equipment, H&E Equipment, and retired from Scott Equipment. Bob was an avid reader, loved to fish, loved cars, and watching auto racing on tv, but most of all he loved his family and especially the time he spent with his grandsons. Bob loved people and never met a stranger. Bob graduated from Minden High School in 1975 and attended Northwest Trade School in Minden completing their 2-year course as a machinist. Bob accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 16 when the James Robinson Crusade came to Minden. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Minden. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Gillespie, Sr., paternal grandparents, J.W. and Leona Mae Gillespie of Haynesville, LA, and maternal grandparents W.A. and Lou Ellen Berry of Wisner, LA as well as a first cousin Paul Noble of Tennessee. He is survived by his son, Michael David Prince of Heflin, LA; his daughter, Millen Gillespie and her sons, Tyler Gillespie and Jayden Gillespie of Haughton, LA; his mother, Marie Gillespie-Bonnette of Haughton, LA; his brother, Jay Berry Gillespie and Nancy Ziogos of Beecher, Illinois and their 2 children, Katie Gillespie and Jeffrey Gillespie; his sister, Ellen Gillespie Leone of Bossier City, LA and her children, Cheryl, Robert, Frannison, Kristin, Galyn and Emily; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his uncle and aunt, Wayne & Pauline Barron of DeBary, FL and their sons and wives, Mark and Franceska of Melbourne, FL, Glynn and Deanne of Orlando, FL and Daniel Lynn Barron & Desiree of Ocala, FL. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
