Margaret Rose Montgomery was born in New Orleans, LA on May 7, 1945 to Marguerite Nuccio Montgomery & John Alden Montgomery and departed this earthly life on March 9, 2017 in Shreveport where she had lived since Katrina in 2005.
Margaret grew up in New Orleans where she graduated from Fornier High School then attended NSU, studying music and drama. In her teen years, she sang in the New Orleans Opera Chorus and was active in several theatre groups.
Her parents and special aunt Rose preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Arlene Montgomery Plowman and brother, John Alden Montgomery, Jr. of New Orleans as well as daughter, Heather Toland Daugherty. The lights of her life were her grandchildren: Pierce Montgomery Daugherty, Ceclia Louise Daughtery and Egan Therese Daugherty all of Michigan as well as her special son-in-law, Tim Daugherty and wife Tracy also of Michigan. She leaves behind two special cats, Magic and Mamie who now reside with Shreveport-Bossier Animal Rescue.
Margaret was a member of Noel United Methodist Church and Chapter M of the PEO Sisterhood. Margaret was working at Bossier Parish Community College when she became ill.
Services will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Noel Methodist Chapel at 11:00 am with Rev. Mimi McDowell officiating. A reception will be held in the church parlor following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Shreveport-Bossier Animal Rescue, 431 Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71104 or to the Noel Methodist Food Pantry.
