Shreveport, LA Juanita Jean Humphrey Dixon, 70 years old, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2012 as she was surrounded by family and loved ones. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt, and daughter. She was married to Charles R. Dixon for 29 years and out of that love between them they had a daughter, Shirley Kay Dixon Ward whom she loved deeply. Juanita loved Charles all of her life and he was the love of her life. She is survived by her daughter Shirley Kay Ward and husband Jim, the love of her life Charles R. Dixon, sisters Shirley Brown, Carolyn Humphrey, Fay Herrington, one brother Melvin Humphrey, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Floyd Humphrey and mother Vada Martin Humphrey, sisters Geraldine Brinkman, Geneva DeMary, and Ruby Tucek, brother Gearld Humphrey. She will be remembered by her warm loving and inviting smile, and her devoted love. She showed her strength and strong will as she fought a strong and courageous battle with cancer. She did not dwell on material things in life, but she was sustained by the love she had for her family and friends. She loved cooking and had a great passion for reading. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Boone Funeral Home, Bossier Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Randy Riley. Interment will follow at Rose Neath Cemetery, Bossier City, LA. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Lynn Allen, Michael Page, Jerome Lewis, Joe Hoffer, Stuart Talbert, Robert Durante, Craig Humphrey, and Herman Humphrey.
