In accordance with her wishes, announcement of the death of Mrs. Veye Averett Parker was withheld for 10 days. She was born in Alden Bridge, 26 June, 1921, and she passed May 5, 2015. She has resided in Bossier and Webster Parishes for most of her life. She attended Northwestern State College and Louisiana Tech University. A member of Waller Baptist Church where she was active for many years. She loved her Lord. She retired from Federal Civil Service at Barksdale AFB and worked for three mayors of Bossier City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Parker, Sr., her parents, Mr and Mrs W F Averett, her daughter Sandra Dodson, her Brother R M Averett, a son and three grandsons. She is survived by her son, Joseph L. Parker, Jr. and fiance' Julianne Hutchins of Shreveport, LA, her daughter, Judy Carr and husband Mathew Carr of Elgin, OR, a nephew, Mark Averett and wife Janell of St. Petersburg, FL., three granddaughters, Jordan Wright, Josey Goodman, and Morgan Hutchins, three grandsons, Ryan Whitlock, Brad Dodson and wife Becky of Benton, Cameron Dodson and wife Robin of San Antonio, TX, and seven Great Grandchildren, Grayson Wright, Laci Murray, Leigh, Peyton, and Lainey Dodson, and Kerstyn Dodson, and Spencer and Lauren Moses. She is also survived by many cousins and other relatives and a host of friends.
Following cremation, her ashes were placed beside her late husband in Lane Memorial Cemetery, Sibley, LA. It was Veye's request that no services and acknowledgments be made in her memory. She strongly encourages everyone to make donations to the Mansfield Street Mission, 2424 Melrose Ave., Bossier City, LA 71111, which was very special to her.
