Shreveport, LA - Bobby Joe Spells, 81, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on November 24, 2014, following a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. The memorial service will be held on December 5, 2014 at Broadmoor Baptist Church Memorial Chapel at 12:30 PM. Burial will follow the memorial service at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 PM. Dr. Larry Williams and Dr. Scott Tatum will officiate the services.
Bobby was born in Camden, Arkansas, September 22, 1933. He graduated high school from Harmony Grove where he belonged to the Arkansas National Guard. Following graduation, he joined the Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. During this time, he was awarded several medals of achievement and developed a passion for flying. For over 40 years, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, as well as employed by Maynard, Clark and Teasley General Insurance Agency. He was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church where he served in the television and music ministry.
Bobby was married to Mary Boughton on December 28, 1985, and they celebrated almost 29 wonderful years together. He is survived by his wife, 4 step-children and their spouses, 9 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He is preceded to Heaven by his parents, George and Mildred, sister Peggy and her husband Billy, sister-in-law Darlene, and grandson, Brandon.
