Frank Edward Turner, born November 1, 1955, went to be with his Savior on March 20, 2017 at the age of 61. He was born in Kansas City, MO, and was a resident of Shreveport-Bossier for 44 years. Frank was known for his tireless work ethic - he was employed as an insulator for 13 years before returning to school at the age of 30 to earn a degree in radiology, where he won the "Outstanding Technician" award for his class. He worked for 22 years in Interventional Radiology at LSU Heath, earning his Interventional Radiology Technician Certification during his tenure there; and was the department manager for 10 years. He retired from University Health in 2014.
Frank loved the outdoors, particularly camping and fishing which he enjoyed often with his wife and grandchildren. He also considered himself to be a master gardener, and loved to entertain loved ones at bonfires and parties held in a yard he had lovingly landscaped. As deep as his love was for the outdoors, it paled in comparison to the love he had for his friends and family. He was a person who could make anyone laugh and would sometimes go to great lengths to do so - his presence never failed to bring humor to any situation! Everyone who had the good fortune to know him can recount personal stories of classic "Frank Turner" antics that are representative of the good-humored way he lived life. Moreover, Frank was a giving and loving man who could never say no to those in need, often being called on by family and friends for help from anything from home repair to cattle wrangling. He was truly loved by all who knew him and never met an enemy.
Frank is preceded in death by his mother, Francis Juanita Adams Turner, and mother-in-law Shirley Merick Murphy.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Jane Murphy Turner. Also left to cherish his memory are his children Kelly Turner McGuffee (Brandon) and Steven Turner (Lauren Brown); grandchildren Sydney and Brody McGuffee; father Bill Turner; brother Michael Turner (Darla); sisters Vicki Collins (Bobby) and Lauren Heinfeld (Zack); father-in-law Harold Murphy; brothers-in-law Michael Murphy and Charlie Murphy (Lynn); sister-in-law Sara Murphy; nieces Becki Murphy (Daryl) and Taylor Rose; and nephews Blake and Brandon, in addition to many aunts, uncles, and cousins
