Mr. Burnett was born in Center, TX, and was a direct descendant of Texas pioneers. He passed away after a brief illness in Shreveport. Mr. Burnett proudly served his country as a WWII Navy Veteran, and attended the University of Texas in Austin. A resident of Shreveport since 1961, he was employed at United Gas for over 20 years. Mr. Burnett was a 20th century Renaissance man, with many varied interests including photography and painting. He was a charter member of the Men's Art Guild in Shreveport. He had a passion for life and above all, a deep love of his family. Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Monroe Burnett and Annie B. Burnett. Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Fay Burnett, daughters: Patricia Burnett, Pamela Dickson, Lisa King, sons: Charles Burnett and Jack C. Burnett, Jr., five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family expresses their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the attending medical staff of Willis-Knighton South's ICU unit. Per his wishes, no visitation or services will be held prior to cremation. A plaque will be placed at his family's plot in Center, TX. Friends are invited to celebrate his life at his residence in Shreveport with his family on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make dontations in memory of Jack Burnett to the charity of your choice.
