Rita S. Meissner, age 71, passed away on August 21, 2019, in Haughton, LA surrounded by family after a lengthy struggle with cancer. She was born to John and Madeline Lee Scroggins On September 19, 1947 in Memphis, TN. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean Meissner, brother Earl Scroggins, and sister Lesa Scroggins. She is survived by brothers Donald (Barbara), John (Katy), Sonny (Liz) and Rickey (Donna) Scroggins; first husband Julius Scott Jr, and their children Tina Stuchel (Jim), Keith (Tina) Scott, Travis (Sheryl) Scott, Jason (Kim) Scott. Grandchildren Torey (Andy), Tyler, Jordan, Codie, Madeline, and Korbyn, and multiple great-grandchildren. Rita took great pride in being lifelong nurse and enjoyed painting. She revered her private time but was always overjoyed to attend family functions. Her greatest joy in the last years of her life was Brothers’ Lunch with her surviving siblings each month. Special thanks to Jason, Kim, and Madeline for opening their home and tending to the challenging needs at such a difficult time. Services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 24th, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA. Family will begin greeting friends at 1 PM until the time of service.

The family would like express their appreciation to good friend, Kyla Sanders; staff of St Joseph Hospice, Elizabeth Glass, Miss Bea and Miss Monica.  Your loving care of Rita means so much to all of us.
