Billy James Craft

d. May 31, 2020

Billy James Craft was born August 19, 1944 to Kenney and Ethel Craft in Evans, Louisiana.  With his family by his side, Billy passed on May 31, 2020.

As a young man, Billy entered the Air Force in 1966 and proudly served his country.  He met the love of his life Sandy at Barksdale AFB, where both he and Sandy were stationed. They were happily married for 52 years.  Billy was known as a country boy.  During the fall and early winter months, he could be found in the woods hunting.  When he couldn’t hunt, crappie became his target. He also enjoyed working in his garden. When his children were grown, he became a proud grandfather.  His face would light up when he saw his next generation coming in the house.  He had a wonderful smile that would light up a room.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Kenney and Ethel Craft; sisters, Ruby Fourman, Ilene Williams, Ella Mae Hinson, Helen Brantley, Marie Conklin; and brother, Buddy Craft.  He leaves behind wife, Sandy Craft; daughter, Cathy Grant and husband Robert; sons, Brian Craft and wife Erica and Bradly Craft and wife Megan; grandchildren, Madeline, Peyton, Landree, Brock, Barrett, and Baker; brother, Kenney Craft Jr.; and many other family members and friends.

Billy was a faithful member of the Midyett Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church of Bossier, where he made many lasting friends

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Edward Smith, Ken Hardcastle, Robert Jones, Wayne Earp, Harry Solomon, Mike Scott, and Leon Darden.

Billy loved and was loved by many.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Bossier City, and the American Cancer Society.
