Charles Wayne Smith passed away, Monday, January 4, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at a later date when it is safer for friends and family to gather.
Charles was born December 5, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He married Margaret Anne Smith on August 10, 1976. Charles graduated from Woodlawn High School, Shreveport, LA and proudly served his country in the United States Army. For many years he worked in the oilfield business in Texas. He loved to hunt, watch Texas A&M Aggies football and his cat, Case.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Reid and Ruby Smith; mother-in-law, Margaret Kathryn Smith Jennings; sister-in-law, Janice Smith Cozine.
Left to cherish his memory, Charles is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 44 years, Margaret Anne Smith; sons, Charles Wayne Smith, Jr. “Chuck” (Ruth Annette Hathorn), Christopher Wayne Smith “Chris” (Lisa Atwell Smith); daughter, Charlene Waynette Smith (Kevin Hurt); grandchildren, Austin Tyler Smith, Owen Wayne Smith, Emma Rose Brown, Bridget Brönté Smith and Rhett Hamilton Smith; brother, Billy Warren Deason; niece, Eurma Meshell; Sister-in-law, Carole Cunningham (Larry), Brother-in-law, Lee Cozine; nieces and nephews Valerie Gamble (Kevin); Zachary Wayne Cozine (Jess) and Bryce Lee Cozine and great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities of North Louisiana to honor Charles.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all those who loved and cared for Charles and for the outpouring of love towards his family.
