Samuel Arthur Windham passed away March 7, 2017. Mr. Windham was born July 16, 1932, in White Oake, Mississippi, to Marshall T. Windham and Mary D. Windham. He served in the Korean War and received three Purple Heart medals. Mr. Windham married Joyce Woodruff on November 27, 1952, in Bentonia, Mississippi, and they moved to Louisiana in 1954. After 34 years in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Windham served as Administrator of the Caddo Levee District until his retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He was a member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church for 53 years. Mr. Windham is predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Theda Barnes and Mary Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, his son, Craig Windham of Bethany, Louisiana, his daughters, Suzi Evans and her husband Mack, and Debi Hailey and her husband, Rick. Mr. Windham is also survived by his two grandsons, Will Hailey of Houston, Texas, and Dr. Bennett Hailey of New Orleans. Visitation will be held at Boone Funeral Home-Bossier, between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2017. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Trinity Heights Baptist Church, 3820 Old Mooringsport Road, Shreveport, LA 71107 or the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home, 3130 Arthur Ray Teague Parkway, Bossier City, LA 71112. We would also like to express our appreciation to the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home for their compassion and care for our Dad. We will miss him greatly.
