Celebration of life service for Dale Howard will be held at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA on October 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. Reverend Shinia Kelsey will be officiating the service. Visitation at Boone will be October 16, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Interment will be at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Keithville, LA. Dale was born in Riverside, CA on July 30, 1941, and was an Air Force brat throughout her growing up years, living in many different cities across the U.S. as well as overseas. She settled in Macon, MO in 1964 for 25 years and lived in the country where she enjoyed raising and riding horses. She became an LPN in 1971, went on to be an RN in 1983, nursing approximately 35 years. She was well respected by many of her peers and was considered a great nurse. She moved to Longview, TX in late 1989 and shortly thereafter met her true love, Jim Howard of Shreveport, LA. They married May 12, 1993 and spent the last 17 years in Belcher, a community she came to adore. Dale was a member of Belcher Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 14. Her one true passion was animals of all kinds. Dale was preceded in death by Richard N. Jones, Jr., father, Harriette J. Grimm, mother, and Basil Grimm, step-father. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Howard, her daughter and son-in-law Bronda and Mel Moore, two granddaughters Lauren Moore and Alex Moore, also daughter and son-in-law Pam and Lorenzo Coyote, step-son Robert Coleman and children Kim, Francine, Robin, Andrea, Josh, and Hannah, two granddaughters Brittany Jellum and Elizabeth Coyote, and grandson Keith Jellum and wife Stevi, and their children Dawn, Gage and Colton Jellum, as well as many beloved friends. Pallbearers will be Steve Lavery, Sam Watkins, T.P. Fowler of American Legion Post 14, and Michael Randell, Bob Kelsey, and MSgt (ret) James Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers will be Unit 14, American Legion Auxiliary, Cabane Locale 137. The family would like to give a very special thanks to Dale?s favorite doctors John Chandler, Gerry San Pedro, Clinton McAlister, Roy Flenniken and all the wonderful caregivers at Willis Knighton Bossier Hospital.
