Elm Grove, LA- Donald L. Holcombe, age 76, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease/Dementia on September 24, 2007. A memorial service to glorify the Lord will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Boone Funeral Home Chapel, Bossier City, LA. Officiating will be Rev. David Permenter of Grand Cane Baptist Church. A gathering of friends and family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Holcombe was born March 4, 1931 in Atlanta, GA. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Donald was a member of the American Legion, the International Union of Elevator Constructors. He was very multi-talented! He was an artist, and inventor of elevator parts as well as children's toys, a carpenter and a horologist (clock maker). Donald also loved to fish! But most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Mr. Holcombe was preceded in death by his son; Robin Carlton Holcombe. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Grace A. Holcombe, three sons; Michael C. Holcombe, Samuel H. Holcombe and wife Sissy, and Joseph D. Holcombe, one daughter; Karen Elizabeth O'Hara, six grandchildren; David and Grace LeeAnn Holcombe, Richard Lewis and Erika Denise O'Hara, Landon C. Holcombe, and Brandi Jordan, one sister; Barbara A. Holcombe, two nephews; Wes H. and Matt Holcombe, one niece; Ricki Stanley, mother and father-in-law; Lee and David Paul, and a host of friends.
