Bossier City-TSgt Henry J. DeMott passed away on
December 15, 2008 at the age of 90. He was born July 7, 1918 in Brooklyn, New
York as one of nine children of Joseph and Hellen
DeMott. He was predeceased by his wife,
Corrine in 1989; four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by one sister, Ann Michaels of
Long Beach, CA; step-son, Billy Van Hook and wife Sandy of Mobile, AL;
step-daughter, Lynda Baxter and friend Donna Jobe of Elysian Fields, TX,
special friends, Mary and Conrad Lambert; and numerous nieces, nephews and
grandchildren.
Henry
joined the Merchant Marines at age 15 and traveled to Chile, Alaska
and China. At age 25, he joined the Air Force and flew
on B-24's in Italy during
World War II and Korea,
retiring in 1964. Henry volunteered at
the Veterans Hospital
in Shreveport
assisting in the pharmacy for fifteen years.
Special
thanks are extended to the staff of Garden
Court Nursing
Center where he resided
for 3-1/2 years. Also, he would want to
say thanks to Carol Berholz of Garden
Court who did many special things for him and made
his stay there much more enjoyable.
Graveside
services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 10:30am at Hill Crest
Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00
until 7:00pm at Boone Funeral Home.
