Bossier City, LA - Travis LaVain Jordan passed away at Grace Home on September 16, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Travis was born May 1, 1942 in Collingston, LA.
He served 7 years in the US Air Force before going to work for AT&T as a Communications Crafstman. He also served as President of CWA AFL-CIO local #3451 from 1980-1991. He retired in 1992 after 25 years to spend more time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roe Chester and Vera Jordan of West Monroe, LA. Travis is survived by his wife of 47 years Faye; son Travis Jr., and wife Michelle Jordan of Benton, LA;, daughter Mechelle Gibison of Bossier City, LA; brother Dwain Jordan and wife Jean of Downsville, LA; sister Sylvia Perkins and husband Bo of W. Monroe, LA; brother Bob Jordan and wife Nan of Downsville, LA; and grandchildren Samantha and Niklaus Jordan of Benton.
Travis was known for his offbeat sense of humor and ability to fix most anything. He enjoyed helping others, traveling, and playing with his 2 grandchildren who were the light of his life. Although he will be missed, the memories he provided will be with us all forever.
A memorial service will be held at NW LA Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, September 30 at 11am in Keithville, LA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Travis Jordan to Christus Schumpert Grace Home in Shreveport.
