Dorothy Jean Kidd

d. October 12, 2015

Dorothy Jean Sims Kidd entered into the presence of the Lord on October 12, 2015 in Bossier City, Louisiana. She was born on May 18, 1925 in Robeline, Louisiana and lived her adult life in Shreveport before moving to Benton in 1988. She was predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Fannie Sims, husband, Nelson Kidd, sisters, Artie Mae Flores and husband, Morris and Claudia Marie Sims, brothers Clyde Sims and Louis Sims, and wife, Juanita and sister-in-laws, Gladys Sims and Dot Sims. Left to cherish her memory are brothers Reuben Sims and Billy Sims, daughter Barbara Davis and husband, John , son David Kidd and wife, Diane, step-son, Timothy Kidd, grandchildren, Lauren Hollingsworth and husband, Nathan, Emily Davis, Millicent Davis, Sarah Kidd, Taylor Kidd and Savannah Kidd and a host of nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as Mimi to everyone, not just her grandchildren. Mimi grew up on a farm and loved gardening her entire life. Nothing pleased her more than to be in Illinois or Colorado with her grandchildren helping plant or harvest their gardens. She also loved to cook and no one could resist her famous home-made biscuits. Mimi dearly loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She held open arms to all that she met and loved everyone equally. Most importantly, she loved the Lord above all and served Him faithfully throughout her life. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm Thursday, October 15 at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111. The memorial service, officiated by Pastor Richard Watson of Harvest Fellowship and Pastors Mark and Laquita Briggs of River Park Church, will follow at 7 pm. A family graveside service will be held Friday morning at Lambertown Cemetery in Shamrock, Louisiana. A heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful caregivers at Heritage Manor Nursing Home In Bossier City, LA, Southern Care Hospice and Promise Hospital. Special thanks to Mrs. Lori Bridges who provided loving care to Mimi.
