Obituary of Clara Winifred Lang Middleton
Clara Winifred Lang Middleton “Winnie” (95 years of age) of Shreveport, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 after a lengthy illness.
Memorial service will be Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Couch Chapel. Visitation will be in Couch Parlor after the service. Reverend Dr. Pat Day and Reverend Carl Rhodes will be officiating.
Clara Winifred Lang Middleton “Winnie” was born on July 4, 1923 to Wallace and Ruby Lang in Meridian, Mississippi. She left this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, after a two year struggle with circulatory issues.
She attended school in Meridian, Mississippi and married George Douglas Middleton on November 2, 1941. They moved to Shreveport in 1962. Winnie worked at Sears part-time and at home full time. She and Doug were world travelers and travelled extensively. Some of their favorite trips were to China and Australia. You could count on Winnie wearing a sassy hat wherever she went.
Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Ruby Lang, her husband, George Douglas Middleton, daughter Marsha Middleton Cummings, and great-grandson, Cayman Andrew Garrison.
She is survived by her daughter, Jann Middleton Connell, son-in-law, George Cummings, sister-in-law, Hazel Lang of Jackson, Mississippi. Her great joy in life- her Grandchildren- Greg Cummings (Sherry) of Houston, Tx , Shana Weissing of Richardson, Tx, Blake Cummings of McKinney,Tx, Rachel Ward (Joshua) of Shanghai, China and Rebekah Howe(Chris) of Bentonville, AR. She delighted in the added joy of her great –grands ALL girls! Krystal, Chynna, Carsyn, Jade, Sage, Jubilee, Madelyn, Clementine, and the newest angel Savannah. Her greatest joy was to have all of the family together.
