Rose M. Cox

Rose Marie Cox (Mathieu), 78, of Shreveport LA passed away July 3, 2018 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

Rose was born on August 19 1939 in Southbridge MA to Elzear and Claire (Germain) Mathieu. She married Frank E. Cox of New York City, NY and they lived in Miami FL until moving to Shreveport in 1981. Rose was a preschool teacher and her greatest passions were children and writing. She was a member of several writing organizations and wrote poems and children’s books.

Rose was active in the Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister at both St. Catherine’s and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Frank, her sisters Lorraine Broullard, Alice Coonan and Joan Lacasse.

She is survived by 2 sons Frank E Cox Jr (Debbie) and Martin J Cox (Laurie), 4 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother Joseph Mathieu (Sherry) and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thanks to Garden Park Nursing Home and Aime Hospice for their loving care during her last days.

A memorial service to honor Rose’s life will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 11 am on Friday July 6.

In lieu of flowers donations in her honor may made be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
