Violet Sue Nolen

August 18, 1939 — June 21, 2024

Violet Sue Nolen, known affectionately as Sue, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, at the age of 84, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Sue was born on August 18, 1939, in Natchitoches LA to the late Newton Wesley Barlow and Cecile Barlow.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Ray Nolen, and her siblings Jimmy Dans, Willie V. Murray, May Elizabeth DeVillier, Sarah Longa, Virgil Hendrix, and Sattie Bonnette.  Sue was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her devoted son, Kevin Scott Nolen;  her cherished granddaughters Meghan Nolen, Lauren Nolen, and Alexandra Nolen; and her dear brother, Harold Barlow.

Sue's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication.  She was strong-willed and a force to be reckoned with, known for her unwavering support for her family.  Those who knew Sue loved her deeply and her legacy lives on through her family.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Sue's life.  Details will be announced in the coming days.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sue's memory to an animal shelter of your choice in honor of her beloved dogs, Memphis and Marley.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
