Stella Tecoah Cloy Smith passed away on June 5, 2021, after a brief illness.
Stella was born in Meadville, Franklin County, Mississippi, in 1927. She was preceded in death by her father, John Dixon Cloy (d. 1929), her mother, Iva Rebecca Adams Cloy (d. 1987), and sisters, Hazel Cloy Godbold, Margaret Inez Cloy, Evelyn Cloy Applewhite, her brother John Dixon Cloy, Jr., nephews John Dixon Cloy, III, and Gordon Applewhite.
Attending college in Mississippi, Stella entered the medical field as a lab technician upon graduation, later moving to Shreveport. In 1991, she was honored by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for forty years of certification, and worked for many of those years at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.
Her marriage to Bill G. Smith in 1978 ended in divorce in 1986, but they remained daily companions for thirty years, until his death in 2016.
Stella is survived by her three stepsons, Stephen R. Smith and wife, Amy C. Smith, their daughter, Jennifer D. Smith Lai and husband Albert and granddaughter, Evelyn L.; David L. Smith and wife, Carol; Randall C. Smith and wife, Windy. Nieces and Nephews: Horace G. Godbold, III, Margaret Godbold McGee, Revel Applewhite, and George Cloy.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for the kind care given Stella by the staff and attendants at Montclair Park Assisted Living and adjacent facility, The Chateau, in Shreveport.
A private graveside service will be held at the Providence Baptist Church, Ringgold, Louisiana.
