Shawn Avant

Shawn K. Avant passed away peacefully at his home on February 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Dallas, Texas on November 29, 1963 to James and Peggy Avant. Raised in a family of six boys, Shawn was known for his love of life, and most of all, his love for family. He had a contagious laugh and enjoyed a good practical joke. His love of horses and the race track led him and his wife Jodi to Shreveport, LA where he worked with trainers, jockeys and other track personnel to develop Avant Custom Tack and Repair. His hobbies were centered on his family attending rodeos, ball games, and socializing with friends and families associated with the equestrian industry. Shawn was preceded in death by his brother, Kelly Avant. Survivors include: his loving wife Jodi, his son Colt and his daughters Heather and Kelly and his grandson Jaxon. In addition, his parents James and Peggy Avant of El Reno, OK. His brothers Tom and his wife Margie and family of El Reno, Darby and his wife Amy and family of Brenham TX, Tim and family of El Reno, Pat and his wife Keri and family of El Reno. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends and his K-9 Rascal. We wish to express gratitude for the loving care at Willis Knighton Hospital/Hospice and their doctors and nursing staff. Also to all friends of the family for their thoughtfulness and their generosity. Visitations will be Friday, February 12, 2016 from 11AM -2PM, with the funeral following at 2:00 PM Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, LA. Burial will be at Haughton Cemetery following the services.
