Dr. Seth Reuben Stanfield, 42, of Benton, Louisiana passed away on April 1, 2024 from a six month battle with cancer.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, April 4, 2024 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, Louisiana. Father Kelby Tingle of St. Jude Catholic Church will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Rose Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Boone Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Boone Funeral Home.
Seth was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 27, 1982. He graduated from North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana and continued to receive his bachelor and master’s in Nursing and most recently his Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2024.
Seth was married to Christy Ebarb Stanfield on May 17, 2008 in Lihue, Kauai at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They were married for 15 years. Seth was a registered nurse for 20 years and worked as a Staff Development Instructor at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center with ICU and nurse recruiter experience. He previously worked in Pediatrics and ICU at LSUHSC. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Seth was very proud to serve as cadet captain, major and colonel for JROTC for 4 years at North Caddo High School.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and traveling. He was a supporter of the LSU Tigers football and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He loved watching his children play sports with Benton Youth Baseball, Softball, and Benton Tiger Youth Football. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He will be greatly missed by his entire family, friends and coworkers. He was a gentle giant and considered everyone he met a friend.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Christy; his beautiful children, Madelyn Rose and Landry Bennett; his mother, Terri Lyn Stanfield; grandparents, Hugh and Juanez Beene of Vivian, LA; his father, Charles Stanfield, Jr. of Freer, TX; step-brother, Allan Stanfield; step-sisters, Chelsea Diaz and Keri Pickett; mother-in-law, Rosie M. Ebarb of Shreveport, LA; brothers-in-law, Thomas Ebarb Jr. of Shreveport, LA, Robert Ebarb of Sachse, TX, Allen and wife Lisa of Shreveport, Michael and wife Amanda of Allyn, WA; sisters-in-law Rosie Ann of Zwolle, LA, Linda Jean Walters and husband Fred of Perry, NY, Mary Caroline San Miguel and husband David of Madison, AL, Margo Janiga and husband Steve of Murphy, TX; a host of uncles, aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
Seth is preceded in death by his great-grandmother Louise Davis; great-grandfather, Harwood Davis; grandmother, Edna Gibson; and father-in-law, Thomas Ebarb, Sr.
Honoring Seth as pallbearers will be Rodney McCarty, Barry Davis, Lane Carlisle, Allen Ebarb, Robert Ebarb, and Thomas Ebarb, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Bohrer and Hugh Beene.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, TX for the wonderful care and compassion to Seth during his time of need.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
