Robert (Bob) Lowell Watt

 

Robert, 93,  was born May 24th, 1930 in El Paso Texas and resided in Shreveport since 1935.

 

His wishes, which are honored, were that he depart this life quietly- therefore he will not lie in state, nor will there be any interment service. He wanted to be remembered with laughter, joy, and love.

 

Bob graduated from Fair Park High School in 1946. He obtained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering  from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1950. He was employed by Southwestern Electric Power Company for 45 years. He was a registered Professional Engineer - State of Louisiana, member of Edison Electrical Institute, SWPP Southwest Power Pool, member of Tau Beta Beta Pi honorary engineering society, Senior Member of IEEE and past chairman of Shreveport section.

 

He was an active member of the Downtown Lions Club since 1966, was awarded Lion of the Year in 1986 and the Lions Club International Foundation Award. He was also awarded the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship for his dedication to humanitarian service. He was a lifetime member of the Louisiana Eye Foundation. He was a former member of the Shreveport Jaycees, where he served on the Board of Directors.

 

Bob was a member of Willow Point Baptist Church (formerly Queensborough Baptist Church) where he coached softball, baseball, and basketball and taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a member of the 55 Plus seniors

group. Bob was known to be a committed Christian and a generous and kind gentleman. He participated in fellowship with many believers throughout his life. Fellowship with the Lord’s people and support of the Lord’s work was very important to him. His last few years he took advantage of his computer skills and stayed in touch with many friends and family through facebook and emails.

 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Peggy Watt. Survivors are his loving wife of 65 years, Jean, son Robert Maxwell Watt and wife Galen, daughter Marijo Brown, and grandson Taylor Brown and his wife, Leslie. He had three sisters; Billie Birmingham, (deceased), June Robison (deceased) and Beverly Lumm of Las Vegas, Nevada. He had nephews and nieces, Peggy Birmingham Collins, Jimmy Birmingham, Eddie Robison, Connie Robison, Mark McBride and Bruce McBride.

 

Bob had a special love for chihuahuas that traveled with the family on many of their trips and adventures.
