Services for Richard E. Nolan will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008. The family will be receiving friends from 10am-12pm for a gathering at University Church of Christ. A graveside service will follow at 1pm at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Mr. Stuart Freeman of University Church of Christ. Mr. Nolan passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday.
He was born on November 16, 1943, at BAFB, Bossier City, LA. Mr. Nolan served our country as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War. He then went to work as an insurance agent for Prudential for over 25 years. After retiring, he worked at the U.S.P.S., started his own landscaping business, Rick?s Lawn Service; and also volunteered at Overton-Brooks Veterans Hospital. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, the Optimist Club, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, creating greeting cards on his computer, and spoiling his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Earl D. Nolan. Surviving him are his children and their spouses: Douglas Eugene and Milaine Nolan, Kathryn Jean and Michael Dunham, Anna Janette and Sean Molloy; mother Myrtis Nolan; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Leon Schmidt; brother and sister-in-law: David and Stacy Nolan; grandchildren: Ashlie, Kimberly, Lori, Doug Jr., Sarah, Abigail, Christina; numerous nieces and nephews; and his children?s mother whom he remained close to, Nova Gene Yates.
