Paul Fish

December 23, 1937 — October 15, 2024

Dr. Paul Edward Fish (Doc to so many), 86, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed away on October 15, 2024.

Paul was born in Olney, Texas on December 31, 1937. He graduated from Westwego High School and attained multiple degrees, culminating in his doctoral degree in May 1996.

Paul was married to Donna on July 4, 2023; they were able to enjoy 15 months of wedded bliss together.

Paul spent his 86 years enjoying and mastering a number of professions, ranging from a zoo attendant at the San Diego Zoo, to racing cars, to flying jets off the USS Lexington. He served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1960. He worked for the State of Louisiana for 30 years before pursuing his true passion – counseling. He specialized in addictive behaviors, specifically gambling, but was a trusted guide and concerned listener to many, especially with his church family. He loved wood carving. What started out as a small corner in his house, turned into a separate building for all of his projects.

Paul loved, and was loved by, his church family at Fellowship Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing.

Paul is survived by his spouse, Donna Cherry, daughter Melanie Vermillion, grandsons Kevin Mount and Garrett Vermillion, sisters Mary Padgett, Winnie Choate and Pat Perry, and brother Larry Evans.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Catherine Fish and Etoy Mitchell; son Jay Paul Fish, and sister Norma McKay.

The funeral service will be held October 23, 2024 at 11:00 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Benton. Brother Don Crook of Fellowship Baptist Church will be officiating.

The family wishes to thank Boone Funeral Home and Fellowship Baptist Church for their assistance and love in this time.
