P. Shields

Funeral services for P.L. Shields will be held in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Wednesday, January 9, 2007, at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will follow at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Barksdale Air Force Base Honor Guard. Mr. Shields passed away Sunday, January 6, 2007, at Grace Home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 8, 1933, in Arcadia, LA. Mr. Shields served our country in the U.S.A.F. during the Korean War; which left him disabled. He was a member of the American Legion, serving as past commander of several Dallas area Legions, as well as one in Marshall, TX. Mr. Shields enjoyed traveling, fishing, and watching old western movies. He was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey Shields and Katie Tibbitt; and two brothers: Wilbur Aubrey and Victor Wayne Shields. Surviving him is his wife of 17 years Karen Sue Shields; daughters: Karen Shields; Winona Alsobrook; Lawona Griffith; brother Stonie Garcie; sisters: Sandra Johnson, Sue Castore; and two grandchildren: Breanne Alsobrook, and Nathan Cogley. Pallbearers will be Stonie Garcie, Don McMeans, Shaun Alsobrook, John Castore, Jeff Hartsell, and Barney Roberie.
