Bossier City-Funeral services for Mr. Nelson Thomas Holden will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Minden, LA. The family will be receiving friends at Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, on Wednesday from 4-6 PM. Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
Mr. Holden passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 3, 2007. He was born on September 8, 1920, in Syracuse, NY. Mr. Holden did many things during his lifetime including serving our country in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. He was a veteran of WWII. After retirement, he made his home in Minden. He trained as a television technician, working at Campbell's TV in Shreveport, then later opened up his own television repair business in Minden. Mr. Holden then went to work at the Louisiana Ordinance and Ammunition Plant, and retired after many years of service. Mr. Holden was an expert model airplane builder and radio controller, and a long-time member of the Sharks RC Flying Club. He was a racing enthusiast serving as wingman and crew chief with sprint cars and enjoyed being a videographer during the races. Most recently, you could find him at Smith-Petty Hobby and Trophy Shop. Mr. Holden also was a self taught musician who could play the piano and organ. He attended church at First United Methodist Church, Minden, and will be remembered as a loving grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed every moment spent with his family.
Surviving him are his children: Kathy Love and husband Mickey of Minden, Suzanne Horton and husband Jim of Baton Rouge, Nelson Thomas Holden, Jr. of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brothers: Richard Holden, Bruce Holden; sister Shirley Carpenter and several nieces and nephews. The family requests in lieu of flowers to please make donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, cancer research, or the charity of your choice.
