BOSSIER CITY, LA Mary Ada Rowland Williams departed this life to be with her Lord on June 16, 2007. Mary was born on December 14, 1915 to Addie Ward Rowland and Edward Rowland in Paragould, Arkansas, where she grew up. She later married George Stevenson, who preceded her in death. Mary moved to Bossier City in 1983 with her husband John Williams. They were both active in the ministry of St. Stephens United Methodist Church until the time of John's death. Mary became one of the charter members of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Friendship Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women's group. Following a decline in health, Mary maintained contact with her beloved church family and friends by phone, cards, and letters.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Doug DeGraffenreid. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Peoria, IL.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Addie and Edward, six infant brothers and sisters, her brother Edward Rowland, husbands; George Stevenson and John Williams. She is survived by a sister, Lillian R. Gentz of Spring Green, WI; niece, Susan G. Greenwood and husband Don and family, also of Spring Green; nephew, Louis Gentz and wife Mary and family of San Fernandino Beach, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and special friends; Jean Ward, LaVerne Tisdale, and Judy Carson.
