Bossier City, LA ? Services for Louis Eugene Williams, Sr. will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Boone Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery West. Officiating will be Reverend Robert Beadle of The First Baptist Church of Benton. The family will receive friends at Boone Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM. Gene, 75, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 5, 2009 surrounded by his family. He retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad with 38 years of service. During his life, he was known to be a hard worker who enjoyed the outdoors and working on projects at home and in his community. When he was not building things he was the first one to volunteer for different functions at his church and other organizations within the community. He was a proud member of the Masons, Shriners and the Haughton Lions Club. These organizations gave him the opportunity to use his skills to generously support the disadvantaged in the Shreveport/Bossier community. His life centered around his Lord Jesus Christ, family and friends. Gene?s love and life has always been focused on his wife of 55 years and all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gene is survived by wife, Barbara Jean Williams; sons, Gene Williams and wife Julie, David Williams; daughter, Diane Connell and husband Richard; six grandchildren, Eugenia Williams, Billy Barnes and wife Jennifer, Brittany Barnes, Jessica Williams, Lee Stutts, and Brooke Williams; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin Williams and Jadon Grant. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society. Pallbearers will be Carl Greig, Wilton Corley, Carl Kelly, Leland McNabb, Lee Thomas, and James Pepper. Honorary pallbearers will be Masons, Shriners and Haughton Lions Club. All that had the privilege of knowing him during his life will miss Gene.
