Linda Kay Schwenk Sherwin, 70, of Haughton, LA, passed peacefully and painlessly in her sleep on Saturday, December 19th, 2020. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26th at 10am at St. Jude Catholic Church in Benton, Louisiana. Linda was born in Rochester, Indiana to Katie and Gilbert Schwenk on January 18th, 1950. She graduated High School from Rochester High in 1968. Linda met her husband Allen in South Bend, Indiana in 1974. Allen and Linda were married on May 31, 1975 and moved down to start their family in Haughton, LA. Linda provided for her family in various ways, but focused on providing and nurturing them as a loving wife and mother.
Her faith and family were of most importance to Linda. If anything, she loved too much. More than once, she was accused of being “overly helpful” because of her desire to help anyone in any situation. Her love of others and love of Christ was a part of every aspect of Linda’s life. She was a devoted wife of more than 45 years to her husband, Allen. Prior to deteriorating health, she was an active member at St. Jude Catholic Church serving as both a Eucharistic minister, and visiting and giving holy communion to the sick and homebound. Linda loved all her family and was a true blessing to those who knew and loved her.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Gilbert; mother, Katie; and brother, Gib. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Allen Sherwin of Haughton, LA; son Jesse [Julie] Sherwin of Port Orchard, Washington; son Joe [Amy] Sherwin of Bossier City, LA; son Jeremy [Mary] of Haughton, LA; grandchildren Abigail, Brianna, Eli, Jessica, Sydney, and Marie Sherwin; her sister Janet Copeland, brother-in-law John [Mary] Sherwin; sister-in-law Kathleen Sherwin Delaune; many nieces and nephews in Texas, Indiana, and Michigan; and countless friends she made during her earthly journey here. Burial will be at a time to be determined in her beloved Indiana soil.
Her family welcomes any and all who can attend her memorial. Please be aware of social distancing and mask protocols being followed at St. Jude Catholic Church.
Friends and Family are welcomed to gather in the foyer of the church at 9:30am to share in fellowship and share stories of Linda prior to the service.
