Linda Louise Burney

Linda Louise Burney, 62, of Shreveport LA, passed away on October 30, 2023.

Linda was born on May 23, 1961 to Lewis Jackson and Geneva Scarver in Meadville MS.  She was raised by her grandmother, Mattie Reed Washington.  She graduated from Franklin County High School and continued on to receive a pharmacy technician/CNA license in the state of IL.  She was married to Alton Smith and to this union came Tiffany and Jonathan Smith.

Linda had many accomplishments, a young activist working with the NAACP that did great work in the Black community.  In her early college years, she excelled in Track and Field and graduated with honors.  She worked hard, played hard and lived every day with not regret.

Linda was born prematurely and was abandoned at three days old.  Doctors stated that she was only to make it a couple of days after birth, but fought until her death at 62.   Linda was a beloved mother and grandmother, also a great friend.

Linda was at peace about her decision.  She received all of her flowers while she was alive .

As far as memorial services, they can be held at a special place in everyone's heart.
