Larry James Schaan, 74 Bossier City, LA passed October 18th, 2021, with family by his side. Larry was under the care of his family, Southern Care Hospice, WK Pierremont, and St Joseph Carpenter House Hospice in Shreveport, LA.
Larry James Schaan was born December 2, 1946, Rugby North Dakota to Bernard (Mary Schneider) Schaan. He graduated from Rugby High School and the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Fine Art. He married Susan Schneeweis. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on September 10, 2021. Larry was president of the Grand Forks Jaycees 1977-1978. He was bestowed the highest US Jaycee award of Ambassador #1239. In 1982 he moved his family to Louisiana, where he was employed by Bossier Sign Company. Larry retired in 2013 as Graphic Production Manager. He was an avid Star Wars fan and collector. His main hobby was woodworking and made several pieces of furniture.
He is survived by his wife Susan; sons, Garrett Schaan and wife Crystal of Fort Worth, TX, and Jared Schaan, MD and wife Tonya of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Kara Barnett and husband Blake of Fort Worth, TX, Chelsea Siegel and husband Brad of McKinney, TX, Sebastian Schaan of Shreveport, LA; great-grandchildren, Ryker and Raylan Barnett, Natalie, Brooklyn and Aurora Siegel; siblings, Richard Schaan and wife Shirley of Jamestown, ND, Mike Schaan of Fargo, ND, Bernie Fiske and husband Pat of Vail, AZ, Mary Ann Schaan of Fargo, ND, Sandi Owens and husband Rick of Jamestown, ND, Sue Volk and husband Mark of Fargo, ND, Kim Troutman of Fargo, ND, and Deb Kaul and husband Len of New Rockford, ND; and many other family members and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Mary Schaan, and his brother Robert Schaan.
Larry has been cremated upon his request. A memorial service will be held at Boone Funeral home at 5pm October, 21 2021. Larry truly lived for his family. His legacy of love will continue for many generations. Larry you will be missed by everyone that had the honor and privilege of knowing you.
