A Celebration of the Life of
Lana Walthour Weaver
“Wif”, Mom, & Nana
Lana Ann Walthour Weaver was born in Kansas City, KS in 1937 to Charles and Marguerite Walthour. She graduated from Northeast High School as salutatorian and married her high school sweetheart, the love of her life, Raymond E. Weaver in 1955. Ray affectionately called her “Wif” and they were married for 65 years. They enjoyed dancing, singing, and bird watching together. They had two children, Raymond E Weaver Jr. and Lynne Weaver Smith. Her first and foremost job was being a mother and homemaker for her family. Lana also enjoyed working as secretary for the churches their family attended over the many years. She served as Pastoral, Music, Youth, and Educational secretary at Memorial Baptist Church in Metairie, LA. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing in the handbell choir, bible studies with friends, and chaperoning youth trips. She used her artistic abilities to create displays for the church library at First Baptist Church of Covington. Her passion for sewing and her excellent seamstress skills were a gift to family and friends. Lana’s greatest love and calling in life were her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Lana passed peacefully September 18, 2024 and was preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Weaver. She has two surviving children, Raymond E. Weaver Jr. and wife Kim, and Lynne Weaver Smith and husband Kerry. Lana has six grandchildren, Raymond E. Weaver III and wife Ashleigh, Kourtney Smith Keim and husband Cassidy, Ryan E. Weaver, Ross E. Weaver, Claira Smith McManus Shows and husband Andy, Katie Smith Henson and husband Jack. Lana was blessed to have ten great grandchildren: Jack, Sawyer, and Sloane Weaver, Callahan and Oliver Keim, and Irie, Wylde, Lazarus, Xenia, and Genevieve Shows.
We praise God for the love she lavished upon each one of us and her life of faith that inspired and encouraged us all. Lana was deeply and dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed.
