Katie Blanche Garrett

Katie Blanche Causey Garrett (Grammy)of Shreveport, LA, passed away on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96 due to natural causes.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home on Airline Drive in Bossier City, LA.  Justin Hagler of The Simple Church will be officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt Zion Cemetery, Coushatta, LA.

The family will receive friends between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home.

Katie was born in Flatwood, LA on October 21, 1925.

Katie loved family, playing card games, going to church, baking chocolate chip cookies, crocheting and quilting and playing with grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Katie is survived by her children Lynn DeBroeck, Nelda Bigby and spouse Billy, Dave Garrett and spouse Jeri, JoAnn Dean and spouse Robin, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.  One brother Fred Causey and spouse Madge, sister-in-law Bill Causey, brothers-in-law Wiley Garrett and Walter Garrett and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Lamar Garrett, Father James Alfred Causey, Mother Effie Beulah Stephenson Causey, brothers JD Causey, Alfred Causey, Ivan Causey and sister Mildred Harrelson and son-in-law Barry DeBroeck.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dave Garrett, Chris Dean, Justin Dean, Chris Leonard, Mark Garrett, and Kim Causey.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jaiden Leonard, Chandler Leonard, Wyatt Toner, Trey Foster, Cory Foster,  Bryan Foster, and Kacee Poole.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Garden Park for their loving care and Hospice for the comfort and dignity that made her journey home peaceful.
