Karrie DeLane Smith

Karrie DeLane Smith came into this world on September 17, 1978 to Travis Smith and Derinda Nehls and slipped away in the early morning hours of July 16, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Charles and Florene Smith, Charles Ray and Norvell Cheatham, and Shirley and Smiley Nehls; aunts Debbie Smith, Neecee McEachern, Mary Margaret Cheatham; and longtime best friend Casey Cox. 

She is survived by her parents Kamie Derinda Cheatham and Barry Nehls, and Travis Smith; children Kolby Derek Cooper, Ely Allen, and Zoey Raye Hodges; brothers Travis Smith II and wife Jessica, Jeremy Nehls and girlfriend Alexis; aunts Minnette Williamson, Beverly LeCompte; uncle Charles Ray Cheatham Jr., Gene Nehls ; nephews Aiden Nehls, Ryder, Evan, and Landon Smith; niece Ryleigh Nehls and partner Casey Fountain. 

DeLane was a sentimental soul. She loved music, being with family, and her proudest accomplishment in life was becoming a mother. Things   weren’t always easy, but she tried to make them fun and her zest for life was evident anytime she entered the room. 

A memorial service is planned for 2 pm Sunday, July 28, at Open Door Fellowship Church, 812 Butler, Springhill, LA, 71075. Brother Tim Everett will officiate. 

 This will be a time to celebrate her life and the wonderful memories we have made over the years.
