John H. Stegall, 75, of Shreveport went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 22, 2024.
John was born in Houston, Mississippi on April 23, 1948, to James Thomas Stegall and Inez Bivens Stegall. He was the youngest of four children. He has one surviving sibling Mary Mayo from Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his spouse Barbara Wiggs Stegall, both parents James and Inez Stegall, brother James Wallace Stegall and sister Nora Alice Lewis.
John is survived by his three children John M. Stegall (Cindy), Kimberly D. Singletary(Jeff) and Jennifer L. Gentry (Robert). He has eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
John grew up in Pontotoc, Mississippi on a farm. John graduated Algoma High School and shortly afterwards joined the United States Air Force. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran that remained friends with many of those with whom he served. After proudly serving his country, John learned the skills required to work on oil rigs. He worked for others and later for his own company as an oilfield mechanic. He was known to many as Big John or The Rig Doctor due to his expertise in his field. He finally retired in 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Liu and his nurse Missy Durbin for providing such great care these last few years.
