Mr. John M. "Scooter" Ratcliffe passed away on March 25, 2008, at Grace Home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 17, 1940, in Springhill, LA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City. Rev. Ed Baswell will be officiating the service. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, near Minden, LA. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 PM. John attended LSU University, then transferred to the University of New York where he earned his degree in accounting. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War time period. John then worked as the General Superintendent for a Oil Company; where he was able to travel the world. Traveling was one of his favorite pastimes as well as his love for antiques. John also had a great love for animals, especially his Golden Retriever, Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents Wiley Lloyd and Lilly Mae Martin Ratcliffe; brothers: Hayward and James Lloyd Ratcliffe; and one sister Edna Mae Ratcliffe Hutchinson. Surviving him is his sister Hazel Ball and husband Edward; nieces; nephews; cousins; and his best friend Merrill. Pallbearers will be Frank Bowman, Madison Bowman, Dakotah Durante, Keith Thomas, Lance Ball, and Ralph Carlisle. Honorary pallbearers will be Wiley Lloyd Ratcliffe, and Buddy Stinson. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Grace Home for their compassion and loving care as well as Dr. Alan Borne.
