Jerry Sayers, 88, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Born on July 15, 1936, in Summerfield, Louisiana, he lived a full and meaningful life defined by service, love, and passion.
Jerry was an active member of the VFW. Jerry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and United States Air Force, where he dedicated 22.5 years of honorable service before retiring. While an active service member, he completed the Management Course for Air Force Supervisors and Jungle Survival School. He also earned several honors and awards including Longevity Service Award, Good Conduct Award, and Personnel Reliability Program. Jerry was also one of only 2 recipients in the State of Louisiana for the Silver Star Medal.
Jerry was an avid golfer. He found joy and camaraderie on the greens, spending countless hours perfecting his swing and cherishing the friendships he made along the way.
Jerry was an active member of St. Mary of The Pines Catholic Church.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Denson and Dollie Sayers; his sister, Bonnie Jo Sayers; and his son, James Sayers. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosalinda Sayers, his loving children: Jerry Sayers, Donnie Sayers, Cynthia Fecher, and Cynthia Wallace, his siblings, Dale Sayers, Valerie Sayers, Betty Sayers, Pat Colvin, and Shirley Hoover, 16 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jerry’s life on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City. Visitation at 2:00pm and service at 3:00pm with reception immediately following the service at the VFW in Bossier City.
In honor of a life well-lived, Jerry’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
