Jerry D. Jardell

November 26, 1936 — December 12, 2024

Mr. Jerry Dansby Jardell, age 88, of Haughton, LA passed away Thursday morning, December 12, 2024, at his residence.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lillian Jardell; two younger brothers, Gayle Jardell and Bill Jardell; and a younger sister, Dolores Denton.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jo Jardell; their daughter, Marcie Jardell; daughters from his first marriage, Jeanette Rausch and Debbie Harrell; a step son, Billy Joe Blose; three grandchildren, Sara Blose, Jeanell Delagarza and Candy Renee Canning. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will sadly miss him.

Jerry was born November 29, 1936, in Vinton, LA and grew up tending to the family farm. He attended college at McNeese State College in Lake Charles before leaving to join the United States Air Force as a supply technician. He had twenty years active military service; serving in the Vietnam War and, during peacetime, served internationally in Japan, and Panama Canal Zone, along with many postings stateside. He retired out of Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA and served ten additional years of service at the VA Hospital in Shreveport, LA.

Jerry and Mary have been in full time ministry since 1980. During that time, they maintained an active role within the church and through their non-profit, Outreach Ministry Caring in Action. In 1997, they became licensed and ordained through World Ministry Fellowship. In the church, they served as deacons, elders and associate pastors. And through their ministry, and various other ministries, helped meet the needs of individuals left desolate by disasters, ministered to nursing home residents, inmates, and performed funeral services for those who were without a minister or for those who could not afford the services otherwise. His legacy will carry on. We choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held. The family requests that memories and condolences be shared privately
