SHREVEPORT, LA - Jerry M. Festavan, 86, of Shreveport, Louisiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 2, 2009 after a brief illness. A memorial service officiated by Rev. Crawford Williams will be held on Sat. Dec. 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home in Bossier City.
Jerry was born on October 24th, 1923 in Mississippi, and raised in Winter Garden, Florida. She was married to the late Ralph L. Festavan for 50 years. She graduated as a registered nurse from Charity Hospital in New Orleans, and worked for Dr. Melvin Johnson of Shreveport for 20 years before retiring at age 70. She was an active member and Sunday school teacher at Ingleside Baptist Church for 45 years. She enjoyed cooking and serving special lunches to whomever her husband brought home from the Ford dealership. She also loved gardening and was especially proud of her roses. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Festavan and is survived by her sons, Ralph M. Festavan and wife, Lynn, of Shreveport, Gary W. Festavan, and wife, Pam of Chicago, Illinois, stepson, Carson Festavan and wife, June of Seattle, WA, stepdaughter, Judy Stratton and husband, Neal of Houston, Texas, her grandsons, Scott Festavan, and wife Melissa, Chris Festavan, and wife, Shawn, and Jason Festavan, all of whom are local area residents, step grandsons, Derrick and Greg Festavan, many great grandchildren, and special friend, Carol Foster.
The family gratefully acknowledges Dr. Gary Williams, the nurses and staff of Willis Knighton South and Grace Home for their special care and love during her last days!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Goldman School and Shriner's Hospital.
