Janis was born in East Carroll Parish, LA on April 16, 1932. She went to be with her Lord on September 18, 2024 after a short illness.

 In her early years, Janis worked as a telephone operator for AT&T in Tallulah, LA, San Antonio, TX and Indiana. She loved her family and traveled throughout the United States, driving her favorite aunt and uncle, George and Ruth Lord of Newellton, LA.

 She is preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Boyd Blane Thornton; daughter Darlene Mikesell; son Dale Mikesell; parents George Clarence Page and Omega Mae Ashley Page of Bastrop, LA; brother Clarence Page; sisters: Annie Cresie, Bessie Brown, Irene Nelson, Cebelle Williams, Clara Linderman and Jessie Clanton.

 She is survived by one sister Estelle Crnkovic of Lake Providence, LA; grandson Josh King and wife Rebecca of Chanute, Kansas; grandchildren: Ashley, Kimberly, Page, CJ, Jessie and Forest; and cherished nieces and nephews.

 Graveside services will be held in late October at Memorial Cemetery in Bastrop, LA with hospice chaplain Craig West officiating.

 The family would like to thank special friends: Dan and Elizabeth Weber, Donna "the mail lady" and Mark Wyatt, Liz Guerro and son Harley, Edwin Black, and special neighbor Sadie. Also, special thanks to Allegiance Hospice for the love and support they have supplied, and the staff at Ouachita Healthcare & Rehab for quality care given to Aunt Janis.

 She is walking on streets of gold and enjoying a GREAT family reunion.
