Janice Evans

Janice Dyar Evans, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 5, 2024 at her home in Shreveport, LA. Janice went to be with the Lord after enduring Alzheimer’s Disease late in life. She was born on June 29, 1935 in West Monroe, LA to Burell Hobson Dyar and Ruby Upton Dyar. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Martin S. Evans. Janice is succeeded in life by her sister, Betty Locke; her children, Dianne Philen, Sandra Schauble, Byron Braswell and Susan Crawford; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janice attended LA Tech and graduated from LSU in Shreveport. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Her primary passion in life was her family. As a young woman she also enjoyed her garden club, bridge club and singing in the choir at church. Later in life, she and her sister enjoyed working on the family genealogy and were both members of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution).

And she dearly loved the Lord and her church, All Saint’s Anglican Church where she served on the vestry for many years.

The family extends special thanks to Father Tony Welty, who traveled with the family and conducted Mom’s graveside service in West Monroe, LA. And more thanks to Christina Miller, Mom’s friend and hairdresser, who made house visits when it became too difficult for Mom to travel.
