James Morris, fondly known as "Mr. Jim," died on December 11, 2024. He served in the Air Force straight out of high school and later joined the Illinois Police Department in Rockford and served as a police officer. After the birth of his daughter Julia, he moved to Louisiana where his parents resided and became an agent for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife, following in his dad's footsteps. Later he became an OTR truck driver and then an accomplished construction worker with cabinetry becoming his love of all things construction.
James is survived by his children Dena Easterling, Julia Morris, Sonja Craig, LeAndra Morris and James Morris; 15 grandkids (and 1 on the way); 10 great-grandkids (with 1 on the way); brother Steve Morris; and sisters Sandy Trumbo and Sue Landry. He was preceded in death by his parents Cleveland (CB) & Julia (Cook).
He made many friends along the way and will be dearly missed by everyone he met at the Kettle and Waffle House through the years. You could always find him enjoying a cup of coffee and a smoke there.
