Shreveport, LA ? James Allan (Jim) Edwards passed away September 9, 2012 after a courageous battle to overcome complications from open heart surgery. He was surrounded by his loved ones at his time of passing. Visitation will be held at Boone Funeral Home-Shreveport Chapel from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on September 12, 2012 with graveside services and burial to be held following at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA with his nephew, Chester Coffman officiating. He was born October 19, 1946 to Melvin and Clara Edwards of Shreveport, LA. Attended Woodlawn High where he lettered in baseball, inducted into Woodlawn Knights, National Honor Society and Pelican Boys? State. Jim spent almost three years at Northeast Louisiana University after graduation. He then served a three year tour of duty with the U.S. Army of which two and half years were spent in various parts of Europe (Germany, Holland, France and Austria) during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, Jim returned to NLU and received a B.B.A in Industrial Management in 1971. During his early career, he worked in the oil field supply business as an inside salesman and later owned and operated J&N Cleaning and Lawn Service until retirement in 2009. He loved to play golf and go fishing. He was a Baptist. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Peggy Miley. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Pitterle Edwards; one daughter Terri Dumas and husband Brad; one grandson Dylan Dumas; two sisters, Donna Waller and husband Robert; Sandra Jones and husband Mike; brother-in-law, Don Miley; two nieces, Trisha Coffman and husband Chester; Debbie King and husband Tony; two nephews, Donnie Miley and wife Michelle; Robby Waller; and numerous loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at Promise Hospital, Bossier, who treated Jim and family with respect, kindness, compassion and understanding.
